Winston Churchill

According to Bernard, the 3 most important days in your life are:

The day you are born

The day you know why

The day you convert your why into actions with impact

Visualizing what hinders you from making changes in your life involves understanding various internal and external factors that contribute to resistance and limitations.

Internally,
- Fear, One might struggle with fear—fear of the unknown, fear of failure, or fear of success. These fears often create a mental block, making the status quo feel safer than the potential change. For example, the fear of failure might prevent someone from pursuing a new job or career path, as they may convince themselves that they aren’t qualified or that they will let others down.
- Self-doubt is another internal barrier. When individuals don’t believe in their capabilities, they may hesitate to take necessary risks. This can manifest as negative self-talk, where thoughts like “I can’t” or “I’m not good enough” dominate their mindset. This lack of self-confidence can paralyze decision-making, making it difficult to take the first step towards change.

Externally,
- Societal expectations, and influences can also act as a hindrance.
- Social norms, habits and cultures of your friends, family and work-environment may create pressure to conform to certain paths, leading to a reluctance to pursue personal desires. If someone feels that their goals are not supported or understood by their social circle, they may abandon their aspirations to fit in.
- Practical obstacles like financial constraints, time limitations, or lack of resources can also impede change. For instance, the desire to go back to school for further education might be overshadowed by the challenges of managing tuition fees and balancing work or family commitments.

How to overcome these hindrances and find the internal motivation to fix what hinders you,
- Recognize, visualize in full detail and acknowledge the hindrances.
- Reflecting on fears and doubts through journaling or discussing them with a trusted person can provide more clarity.
- Setting small, achievable goals will build confidence,
- Getting support from a coach/mentor can help to translate the goals into an action plan.
- Understanding this journey is the first step towards making meaningful changes in one’s life.
Once the hindrances are clear, Fix them. That will provide the needed clarity to move from what you don't want towards what you really want.

Knowing your forte, when do you start giving

Give without remembering & receive without forgetting.
"As a giver, asking yourself the questions of why, when, and for whom is important to make your giving last. Knowing the answers to these questions is your energy source to continue to give."

Luk Dewulf (auteur of “Go with your Talent”, in dutch: “Ik kies voor mijn talent”) wrote the foreword in my book ending with this wonderful phrase:

"When you come to the point in your life where
You can accept that you are who you are
And also Accept that you are not who you aren’t
And when you, from that point, can discover and develop the best in you
And you start giving this to others
Then a whole lot comes back A whole lot"

My question to you remains the same:
Knowing your forte,
When do you start to give to others

Erik Van Vooren was interviewed for my book: “Breek uit de gouden Kooi, durf uw loopbaan een nieuwe wending te geven” uitgegeven door Lannoo Campus.
Erik dared to break out of his Golden Cage, to give his live and work a different direction. Check the snapshots from the interview with him. His tremendous energy inspires me and gives me energy.

The energy to inspire and motivate others is often drawn from a well of authentic living—acting in harmony with one's own values, talents, and passions. When you are true to your personal beliefs and leverage your innate strengths, you operate with a conviction and enthusiasm that is both infectious and inspiring. This authenticity resonates with others, as they see the joy and fulfillment you derive from your pursuits, compelling them to reflect on their own paths.
His journey to discover his talents in areas he’s passionate about, not only energizes himself but also demonstrates a powerful model for success—showing that alignment between what one does and who one is can lead to both happiness and achievement. His example can encourage others to delve into their own self-discovery, igniting their motivation to pursue their unique interests and strengths.
